Position Overview

 

Tilcon Connecticut has an opening for an experienced Welder/Fabricator in North Branford. All Tilcon Connecticut employees are expected to partner with associates and management of Tilcon Connecticut Inc. to coordinate, support, and actively promote our safety process.  This position will report directly to the quarry superintendent and will comply with mandatory safety requirements and other functions of the quarry team.  

 

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

 

This position involves fabrication/welding and repair plant/plant operations including working with crushers, conveyors and screens. This includes cutting torch and welding projects and also includes general work around the quarry operation and other duties as assigned. Overtime is required as needed.

 

Qualifications 

 

• Required:  Fabrication/Welding Experience
• Desired: Previous Aggregate Operations Experience
• Could on occasion work at considerable heights.
• Must be able to have a flexible schedule to coincide with job requirements.
• One plus year's plant / crushing experience. Knowledge of quarry production and associated equipment, and understanding of operations and safety requirements.
• Capable of welding and cutting with a torch and assisting in preventive maintenance and plant repairs.
• Must have mechanical aptitude.
• Able to lift 100 pounds. Climb stairs/ladders up to 24 feet.
• Mechanical aptitude/ability to diagnose and perform plant repairs as needed.
• Previous maintenance/welding/cutting experience necessary.
• Ability to operate an aerial lift.
• Arc welding experience preferred.
• Experience in steel erection/destruction i.e. welding, cutting, and fitting preferred
• Experience working with crushers, conveyors and screens.
• Must be safety-minded.
• Able to work without close supervision, a self-starter.
• Previous experience working in a rock quarry preferred.

 

 

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT

 

Individuals are required to wear personal protective equipment in designated operations and production areas as outlined by OSHA, MSHA, and state agencies. Protective equipment that may be required, but not limited to, for this position: Hardhat, Safety Glasses, Face Shield, Welding Helmet, Reinforced Toed Shoes, Hand Protection, Respirator, Ear Protection, Fall Protection, Air Monitor, Reflective Safety Vest.
