Forklift Mechanic

Position Summary:

Employee will be responsible for performing routine, emergency and preventative maintenance of forklifts and pallet jacks.

General Purpose:

Forklift Mechanic will maintain operation of all equipment in a safe and efficient manner.  Follow all Safety and GMP policies/programs.  Wear appropriate PPE while working.

Position Responsibilities

·         Crider, Inc. requires all employees to comply with and support all Food Safety and Quality policies, programs and procedures to insure our products meet and exceed consumers’ expectation

·         Perform routine, emergency and preventative maintenance of forklifts.

·         Interpret manufacturer's technical manuals to perform the necessary maintenance and repairs needed.

·         Troubleshoot forklift problems to include brake, electrical and hydraulic systems, detect imperfections, potential problems, safety issues and/or malfunctions.

·         Able to diagnose and repair mast and attachment components.

·         Good working knowledge of brake systems and tire/wheel changes.

·         Replace broken or defective parts from stock parts and/or order replacement parts for major repairs.

·         Reassemble forklifts and make all necessary adjustments for effective and safe operation.

·         Perform safety inspection of forklifts prior to being released back to the work floor.

·         Cleaning of equipment and other areas as required.

·         Ensure work area and methods used in carrying out job duties meet safety requirements.

·         Maintain an organized and neat work area.

·         Competent to complete legible service documents and logs for preventative maintenance tasks.

·         Learn new technical information and techniques to stay current with changing technology.

Essential Skills and Experience

·         Two or more years of experience in a related field, including maintenance of various lift trucks.

·         Manufacturing, automotive, military or recent trade school graduates with applied skills.

·         Solid foundation of mechanical aptitude and ability along with knowledge of industrial electricity.

Preferred Relevant Skills and Experience

·         Employee must have a high school diploma/GED.  Strong abilities in mathematics are a necessity. Written and verbal communication skills required with a strong desire to lead by example and follow directions.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

·         Physical Demands:  Employee stands frequently with tasks requiring consistent bending, stooping, kneeling or crawling to complete.  Lifting occasionally of up to 50 pounds is required. 

·         Work Demands:  While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to extreme temperature conditions.  Job locations can be consistently 40 degrees or below.  The noise levels at work are moderate to loud and hearing protection is required.
