What you'll be doing:
As the Accounting Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring financial accuracy, compliance, and strategic fiscal management. Your high-level functions will encompass supporting the meticulous preparation of financial statements, executing precise journal entries, and managing supplementary schedules. By collaborating closely with our CFO and Controller, you will contribute significantly to the organization's success by maintaining fiscal integrity, meeting compliance requirements, and supporting the effective utilization of resources to drive our mission forward.
Responsibilities:

Grant Management & Compliance:
- Support development of, and reporting against, grant and program related budgets
- Collaborate with CFO and Controller to assist with reporting requirements of funders & government grantors to ensure accurate financial reports and funder compliance
- Assist with grant budgets, spending and amendment changes, and monthly invoicing/reporting requirements
- Assist CFO/Controller with schedule and report preparation for annual external financial statement and uniform guidance audits
Financial Expertise:
- Assist in preparing financial statements and transactional reports
- Accurate and timely preparation of journal entries
- Manage and maintain a system of supplementary schedules that support ledger and sub-ledger balances in the financial statements
- Prepare account reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting and integrity of the general ledger accounts
- Assist in the monthly close process
- Maintain depreciation and lease schedules
- Manage ad-hoc reconciliations and finance projects
- Backup accounts payable/ad hoc activities when needed
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or related field or equivalent job experience, MBA a plusProfessional accounting certification, including CPA, CMA, CGA, or CA highly preferred
- 3-5 years’ experience in accounting in a nonprofit setting, or audit experience with nonprofit clients. Non-profit & grant experience a plus
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications (especially Excel, including advanced formulas), and comfortable with learning new technologies
- Familiarity with GAAP and GAO regulations and reporting requirements for nonprofit organizations
- Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team, with the capacity to train/mentor effectively with diverse individuals and constituents, in both one-on-one and group settings
- Ability and desire to translate complex financial concepts to individuals at all levels including finance and non-finance managers
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization as well as outside contacts such as auditors, financial institution representatives, investors, board members and other stakeholders
- Proficiency in assessing priorities, organizing, and operating in a flexible manner in a fast-paced environment while retaining a high level of attention-to-detail
Reliable High-Speed Internet Required: Must have a stable high-speed internet connection to support seamless remote collaboration, virtual meetings, online job tasks, etc.
The full salary range for this position, across all United States geographies, is $66,000 to $97,000 per year. The upper portion of the salary range is typically reserved for existing employees who demonstrate strong performance over time. Starting salary will vary by location, qualifications, and prior experience; during the interview process, candidates will learn the starting salary range applicable for their location. We pay competitively in the tech-forward nonprofit space and offer a robust benefits package.
