Overview:

Cristo Rey Dallas College Prep is a Catholic, college preparatory school for students from households of low to moderate income. Cristo Rey Dallas nurtures and challenges young women and men of all faiths to recognize and realize their full potential as they grow to love God, respect others and serve their community. Each student participates in the Corporate Work Study Program which offers a weekly work study experience for all four years.

Who YOU are:
You are a dedicated health professional with a passion for students and their families. As a member of the academic leadership team, the School Nurse reports to the Principal and will have primary day-to-day responsibility of student health and school-wide health needs.

Anticipated Start Date:

July 1st, 2022

Purpose:

As a member of the academic leadership team, the School Nurse will implement a comprehensive program of health services for students. The School Nurse will promote health education and preventive health practices for students.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Assess and address student and school health needs including:

• Protocols for acute, chronic, and emergency health problems.
• Student immunization records.
• Vision, hearing, and scoliosis screenings per Health Department.
• Medical screenings for students who are tested for learning differences.
• Policies and protocols for administering drugs to students.
• Ensure compliance and availability of annual physicals for students.
• Train faculty and staff on health procedures as needed.

Lead all health trainings and initiatives for CRD including:

• Provide relevant guidance and counseling to assist students and parents in assuming responsibility for health maintenance of the student.

• Assist the Athletic Director and HR Department in the planning, implementation, and record keeping of student and staff injury reports and protocols.

• Collaborate with CWSP to provide education to the job partner of any student who has a potentially life-threatening disease.

• Assist the Counseling and Family Support Departments with planning and implementation of parent workshops.

• Collaborate on compliance with the CRD Emergency Preparedness Plan.

Lead all COVID-19 Protocols and Procedures at CRD in accordance with CDC Guidelines

• Maintain daily tracking of staff & students with symptoms of COVID-19.
• Establish protocols for assessment of students with symptoms of COVID-19.
• Develop screening protocols for staff and students entering the school building.
• Work with the School Principal to develop guidelines and procedures for safe return to school.
• Promote education among the school community on frequent cleaning/disinfection of frequently used surfaces and workstations.
• Promote and support vaccine administration, antibody/antigen testing or other testing for COVID19 at school or other determined areas.

Other Responsibilities

• Deliver culturally competent proactive school health services for diverse student populations.
• Continue professional growth through attending workshops, trainings, and professional development.
• Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

Qualifications:

• RN or LVN
• Bilingual (English and Spanish) Required
• Up-to-date CPR and AED certification
• Maintain state certification for vision, hearing, and spinal screening
• At least one year of experience as a school nurse
• Technologically proficient
• Passion about mission

Compensation:

• Full-time, year-round position with competitive salary, benefits, and paid vacation.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

• Regularly interact with students, parents, staff and visitors.
• Work at a desk and computer screen for extended periods of time.
• Be able to occasionally lift up to 30 lbs.
