Responsibilities

Seeking a mission-focused Systems Engineer with Linux experience to support and contribute to our government customers’ success in Chantilly, Virginia—Must have the required clearance to be considered for this opening!

Duties, Tasks & Responsibilities

This Systems Engineer position encompasses network and server administration in an existing Cross Domain environment. Activities will be concentrated on all aspects of the product development life cycle that are consistent with creating, implementing, and supporting existing and new features and product while improving data processing methods to ensure highest levels of information system security.

• Active monitoring and sustaining the operations of a large number of Linux-based CDS solutions to meet service level agreements. This is to include patching, debugging, and the creation of workaround solutions.
• Incident response management for the CDS solutions.
• Scripting and possible software development to automate Operations and Maintenance.
• Participate in the development and evaluation of new CDS solutions and technology as part of a larger team.
• Development of documentation for operations, sustainment, and user guides.
• Development and maintenance of Ansible scripts for configuration management and deployment of systems.
• Development of Linux scripts, preferably in multiple environments, must have strong bash, and also need one other scripting language (eg. Ansible, Python, PHP, Perl, or Ruby).
• Travel on a regular basis to offsite locations within the WMA for system patching and upgrades.

Qualifications

Required Experience, Skills, & Technologies

• Active TS/SCI with a favorable polygraph clearance
• Four (4) years of relevant experience with a Bachelors' degree or 8 years of experience in lieu of a college degree
• Demonstrated on the job experience with CentOS/Red Hat Linux
• Strong experienced troubleshooting Linux system issues, including boot issues
• Ability to discuss Linux OS topics in detail, including access control, least privilege, and separation of duties
• Experience building physical and virtual Linux servers, implementing/developing configurations, testing, deploying, and coordinating baseline deployments, including coordinating the installation and maintenance of equipment hosted in a server room environment
• Demonstrated on the job experience with automation tools and scripting (Ansible, Bash Shell Scripts)
• Experience performing standard IT infrastructure maintenance tasks, including patching, deployment, and configuration utilizing automation tools.
• Familiarity with LDAP, Kerberos, NFS, and SELinux Policies.

• RHCSA certification
• Linux certification
• LFCE certification
• Prior experience working at the agency
