Position Overview:
The main duties of the Mechanic/Heavy Haul Truck Driver position include performing a full range of repair and modification work on heavy equipment vehicles and hauling heavy equipment and miscellaneous support equipment to and from job sites. This is a full-time position and reports to the Fleet Manager.

Essential Duties and Functions:
Be prompt and timely for all assigned shifts, schedules, and projects
Perform a full range of repair and modification work on heavy equipment vehicles to include, but not
limited to light-duty, heavy-duty, and Redi-Mix trucks, backhoes, loaders, and miscellaneous equipment
Replaces suspension arms, torsion bars, stabilizer bars, etc.
Repair hydraulic and air brake systems
Determine the nature and extent of repairs required
Perform major and minor repairs on engines, power transmissions, transfers, and related electrical, fuel, and hydraulic components
Use technical manuals and other publications to identify and order repair parts
Operate and inspect machines or equipment to diagnose defects
Examine parts for damage or excessive wear, using testing equipment such as compression testers, computer software tools, test meters, micrometers, gauges, and overall strong diagnostic skills
Test overhauled equipment to ensure operating efficiency before being released to the field
Complete welding, run overhead crane, lifts, and jacks
Haul heavy equipment and miscellaneous support equipment
Complete pre and post-shift inspections and assist with equipment repairs as needed
Set up and tear down job sites when moving to and from locations (as needed)
Record any maintenance issues in the truck logbook and ensure the supervisor is aware of any maintenance
Properly secure loads to meet laws and safety regulations
Willingness to perform duties outside the normal scope of work (i.e. outside normal hours)
Position Requirements:
Consent to authorization of a pre-employment work screen, Motor Vehicle Record request, and drug test
Accreditation from a school of mechanics or 3 plus years working with heavy construction equipment
Class A CDL
Clean DMV record
Understand instructions from supervisory positions, both written and verbal
