About You
You are a seasoned digital strategist, developer and technologist with agency experience. You have expertise across a variety of marketing technical stacks and platforms. You understand how standing up systems and processes can scale efforts and positively affect client outcomes. You are intellectually curious and a constant learner. You have a willingness to lean into hard problems and explore new technologies and solutions.
You possess a deep passion for digital infrastructure and extensive experience enabling marketing execution via systems and tools. Comfortable working and communicating with staff and clients at various levels of expertise, you have a strong reputation for driving results and demonstrating thought leadership for the agency and its clients.
Position Overview
The VP Digital will manage our agency’s technical operations and digital tools, supporting staff and participating in client work.
This senior level role requires both leadership and daily hands on abilities. The VP Digital will build a qualified team of experts to develop, implement, and manage the agency's technical strategy and digital tools used across every department. This role will include billable client work as well as technical agency operational support. The VP Digital will be expected to lead and execute digital and technical strategy for client work.
Essential Functions
- Lead and oversee the agency’s technical infrastructure as well as its client-facing digital marketing initiatives, including SEO, SEM, website design & development, and content management
- Apply your extensive technical expertise in a wide variety of platforms alongside web development, CRM, mobile technologies, UX/UI design, and digital marketing strategies'
- Lead, inspire and develop cross-functional teams to deliver outstanding results
- Develop the Digital team’s skills and experience by fostering an environment conducive to learning and growth, providing mentorship, opportunities for development and advocating for professional progression
- Leverage your excellent communication and presentation skills to articulate complex ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Provide thought leadership and innovation in omnichannel digital marketing strategies and best practices, aligning with agency teams in media and marketing, creative, analytics, production, and communications
- Support existing client growth and new client acquisition efforts with a focus on digital solutions and omnichannel strategies through collaboration with others on the leadership team
- Write and/or contribute to exceptional proposals and SOWs that demonstrate deep appreciation for client-side goals, motivate approvals at multiple levels, while clearly articulating the priorities and work processes for the agency
Supervisory Responsibilities
The VP Digital will oversee (and grow) a team of digital and technical project managers, developers and information technology professionals.
Reporting Relationships
This position reports to the COO.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a senior leadership role within an advertising and marketing agency or similar environment building and overseeing agency technical infrastructure and client-facing digital marketing projects related to SEO, SEM, website design & development, and content management. Strategic thinker with a track record of developing and executing successful digital strategies
- Proven experience managing digital infrastructure, agency process and technical teams
- Strong proficiency in front-end and back-end development technologies and frameworks
- Technical expertise in infrastructure and DevOps with the ability to implement and manage systems, processes, and teams for a wide variety of projects and clients
- A deep understanding of version control systems and collaborative development workflows for managing continuous delivery projects
- Ability to translate design mockups and wireframes into responsive web interfaces
- Solid understanding of web performance optimization techniques
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Willingness/ability to travel intermittently for new business, client management and agency planning
- Onsite and remote candidates considered, East Coast preferred
