What are the responsibilities and job description for the Digital Designer position at Cross Catholic Outreach?
The Digital Designer is responsible for producing digital marketing materials, including the creation of web pages, digital ads, social media images, mobile pages, email marketing, etc. Ideal candidates must have experience in digital media and be able to convert copy into compelling, effective, and engaging layouts that adhere to the organization’s style, brand guidelines, and standards. The Digital Designer is an ambassador of service and helps communicate our mission of serving the poor in His name – all while contributing your talent and skillset to enhance our marketing and fundraising efforts.
- Design creative, faith-minded, and effective marketing materials on a daily basis, achieving the highest quality and ensuring consistency with the organization’s identity
- Create web pages and user workflow mockups for fundraising and acquisition campaigns
- Create graphics for social media, web/landing pages, email communications, and other channels as needed
- Collaborate with marketing team members on best practices and emerging design strategies in digital engagement tactics
- Gather direction, data, information, and materials necessary to prepare for upcoming projects and deadlines
- Develop design and layout concepts based on stakeholder direction, notes, and other provided materials
- Work with Digital Marketing Manager to manage design review and revision process with internal stakeholders
- Revise design work based on supervisor or stakeholder feedback until approval is achieved
- Recommend new interactive features for campaign landing pages
- Design email blasts; including preparing any custom graphics as needed
- Design digital ads in various sizes/specs for multiple placements
- Create layouts for optimal digital representation on a variety of devices (personal computers, tablets, etc.)
- Contribute to brainstorming/creative sessions to generate ideas and produce effective and engaging campaigns
- Stay informed and aware of the latest trends in design, tech, culture, brands, and art
- Communicate your design choices to internal stakeholders, team, and staff (it is key that you can verbalize why you make the design/creative choices you do)
- Select photos and other pertinent material to enhance digital communications, as needed
- Other duties as assigned
- Knowledge/familiarity with the teachings and values of the Catholic Church in order to help create persuasive marketing designs for a Catholic audience
- Ability to incorporate strong Catholic, biblical, and spiritual themes and ideas into design
- Strong HTML & CSS Skills and understanding, required
- Ability to work in a PC-based environment
- Experience working with HubSpot and Hotjar
- Strong ability to take written copy and create design layouts that strengthen overall forward-facing presentation
- Strong capability to receive and effectively apply stakeholder edits; able to interpret and apply constructive feedback to enhance overall projected performance of designs
- Bilingual in Spanish (written) a plus
- Must be able to design and problem-solve to accommodate design for multiple digital and mobile devices (personal computers, tablets, phones, etc.)
- Solid understanding of digital marketing techniques, use of social media, email marketing, and new technology.
- Understanding of responsive design, required
- Experience with project management tools such as Teamwork
- Enthusiasm for organizational development, specifically enhancing the organization’s effectiveness and impact through individual and collective
- Minimum 3 years of experience in marketing, graphic design, digital marketing and digital advertising
- 5 years of experience in building WordPress websites and Elementor Page Builder (currently being used to host/build webpages)
- Proficient knowledge of and experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Acrobat Pro)
- Must have hands-on experience working with digital campaigns, web page and user workflow design, and email marketing
- Excellent planning, organizing, and project management skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities and multiple projects at the same time in order to respond quickly to a rapidly changing environment; must be able to consistently meet deadlines
- Strong sense of self-motivation and ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively with other staff and team members
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Possess a positive, service-oriented attitude and be a proven, positive team player team player who enjoys collaborating with others to achieve shared goals.
- Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or related field, or equivalent design
- 2 experience of in-house or digital agency work
- Fundraising and/or Marketing background preferred
