Position Overview:
The Infrastructure Analyst applies analytical thinking and has a passion for challenges and problem-solving using the skills of a System Administrator. This job function performs the day-to-day operations of our Network, Cloud, and Platform environments spread across on-prem, SaaS, and private-cloud based infrastructure.
Daily tasks include network administration, Office 365 administration, AWS infrastructure handling, client endpoint 3rd level support, and participating in an On-call rotation for afterhours support needs.
The Infrastructure Analyst is expected to align with all internal standards and security guidelines associated with maintaining our internal and public facing infrastructure and apply industry accepted best practices of System Administration, Network, and System Engineering.
Job Responsibilities:
- Infrastructure support
- Maintain Corporate Active Directory domain and requisite server infrastructure
- Maintain a secure and efficient corporate network
- Management of AWS infrastructure
- Management of Azure infrastructure
- Installation and management of firewalls/switches across a WAN/LAN environment
- Support a unified voice and telephony infrastructure
- Occasional travel to branch sites to assist with deployments and critical issues
- Onsite, remote, on-call, and emergency support
- Act as a point of escalation for the support services team
User Assistance, Training, Adoption and Satisfaction
- Interface with vendors and suppliers and escalate technical issues as required.
- Assist with the creation and execution of network security standards.
- Author technical documentation and playbooks to capture company process and to document production systems.
Lead Changes to the Infrastructure Ecosystem:
- Align with and use the change management approach employed by the team and participated in scheduled maintenance activities to action system changes.
- Maintain a robust understanding of current trends, design patterns, and different approaches to deploying and iterating infrastructure in a professional manner, aligned with security best practices.
Maintain System, Security and Integrity
- System administration (Linux/Unix or Windows) at the command-line level to maintain our operational systems.
- Multi-tier architectures: load balancers, caching, web servers, application servers, databases, and networking.
- Understanding of cloud security best practices.
- Experience with templates and other configurable items to enable automation.
- Familiarity with deployment techniques (and tools) in a distributed environment.
- Basic monitoring techniques in a dynamic environment.
- Basic understanding of relational and non-relational databases.
- Familiarity with messaging and queuing services.
- Infrastructure as Code: design and security, configuration management, integration, deployment, performance monitoring and tuning, automation of infrastructure.
- Working knowledge of one or more scripting or automation tools (Chef, Puppet, PowerShell, Python, etc.)
Data Quality, Migration and Maintenance
- Support our Data Pipeline and .NET development workflow from an infrastructure perspective.
- Maintain accurate change control documentation in line with team standards using our review process.
- Monitor and react to events surfaced by our monitoring systems and resolve issues associated with performance, availability, and user experience.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Formal Education & Certification
- University degree in computer science or software engineering and/or 5 years equivalent work experience.
- One or more of the following certifications:
- CompTIA Network
- MCSA
- CCNA
- Any AWS certification
- Meraki Certification
- Strong customer-service orientation.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
- Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills.
- Adept at reading, writing, and interpreting technical documentation and procedure manuals.
- Ability to conduct research into hardware and software issues and products as required.
- Ability to present ideas and solutions in user-friendly language.
- Highly self-motivated and directed.
- Keen attention to detail.
- Skilled at working within a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
