Description
Position Summary
The Referral Clerk is responsible for assisting clinical staff members with making outside specialty referral appointments which may include obtaining pre-authorizations as necessary, gathering and sending additional pertinent information along with the referral order, tracking the referral to make sure the appointment was kept and that the information from the completed referral appointment was received back to the Crossing Healthcare ordering provider. The Referral Clerk works closely with all clinical staff members and reports directly to the Nursing Supervisor and/or Clinical Director. Position Status
This is a full-time, non- exempt position.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Enters data concerning referral appointments into the clinics medical record.
Faxes and copies documents as requested.
Charts and sends pertinent information to specialist
Communicates with patient regarding referral and appointments via phone and letter if needed.
Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications

Will also schedule diagnostic appointments and notify patient of appointment date and time.

Complete annual education requirements
Education and Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent.
Health education experience preferred.
Healthcare Office
Physical Requirements:
Moderate physical exertion including frequent walking, standing, bending, reaching and carrying moderately heavy loads (up to 25 lbs.)
Ability to work in conditions that include exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissues, contagious diseases and/or other potentially hazardous materials
