Children’s Director

We’re looking for a highly motivated individual to guide our church’s efforts in ministering to children while following the leadership of the Family Pastor to uphold the Church’s vision for family ministry. The ideal candidate has a vibrant walk with Jesus, significant experience ministering to children and parents, experience recruiting, encouraging, and equipping volunteers, excels at teaching children, and clearly aligns with our church theologically and doctrinally. This role requires a person who relates well with people of different ages and backgrounds as Crossroads embraces a family equipping model of ministry.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Teach Children:

· Maintain the integrity of the children’s Bible teaching time by ensuring the instruction is consistent with the doctrinal convictions (see attached Statement of Faith) of the church.

· Maintain and continue to develop a ministry plan to achieve the vision of family ministry under the leadership of the Family Pastor.

Disciple Children:

· Build and maintain personal relationships with children that explore the gospel and point consistently to Christ through creative mentoring strategies and parent partnerships.

· Identify and execute ministry and mission opportunities for children in coordination with the Family/Missions Pastor.

· Engage in Gospel-centered outreach to the children and families of the community in coordination with the Family/Missions Pastor.

· Plan and oversee avenues of worship for children under the leadership of our Worship Pastor.

Manage Volunteers:

· Recruit, develop, train, and manage children’s ministry teachers and volunteers.

· Explore emerging technologies that help to engage and equip volunteers in the ministry of the church.

Mange and Implement Curriculum:

· Under the leadership of the Family/Missions Pastor, research and develop resources to equip families in the process of discipling their children.

· Review and assign all curriculum used by the children’s ministry and ensure its consistency with the church’s doctrinal commitments and vision.

Plan, Organize, and Communicate All Children’s Ministry Functions:

· Oversee all programming for children throughout the church under the leadership of the Family/Missions Pastor.

· Provide leadership for regular on-going children’s programming and discipleship.

· Plan and oversee special events related to children and families, including Vacation Bible School, fall festivals, camps, etc.

· Clearly, creatively, and consistently communicate through all means available the plans, accomplishments, and needs of the children’s ministry.

Other:

· Maintain a security system that protects children in our church’s care in coordination with Safety Team and under leadership of the Executive Pastor.

· In consultation with family ministry team and under the leadership of the Executive Pastor, develop an annual budget proposal for the children’s ministry and operate within the constraints of the approved budget.

REQUIREMENTS

The ideal candidate will:

· Be a born-again believer in Christ.

· Demonstrate a growing Christian faith and convey Christ’s sanctifying work in their life.

· Demonstrate a clear love for Jesus and deep desire for others, especially children, to know and love him as well.

· Hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (preferably in education or Christian ministry).

· Desire to teach and mentor children in biblical truth.

· Desire to equip and support parents in the discipleship of their children.

· Consistently demonstrate a flexible attitude and ability to adapt to the fluid situations that are prevalent in a young, growing church.

· Have a strong commitment to unity within the church, staff, and family ministry team.

· Have a clear background check.

· Have an excellent ability to use written and verbal communication skills.

· Have a clear understanding of and willingness to serve within the doctrinal commitments of the church.

· Have a strong commitment to the mission of the church.

· Demonstrate joyful, imaginative, creative disposition.

· (If married) Have partnering and supportive spouse who shares in the fruits and labor of ministry.
