Preschool Teacher’s Assistant Position Description

Requirements:

• Must have at least a High School Diploma
• Must meet any standards that may be set by Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) and

Office of Child Care and any other agencies as required.

• Must be at least 19 years of age.
• Credentialed by MSDE.
• A committed personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Responsibilities​ :

• Assist the teacher with the general supervision and management of the class.
• Assist in implementing the daily program under the direction of the teacher.
• Supervise the class when the teacher is out of the room.
• Take on the responsibility of the teacher when she ​i​s absent for a short term.
• Assist the teacher with the ordered arrangement, appearance, decor and ​l​earning environment of the classroom​.
• Prepare the learning environment, setting up the classroom​, ​and preparing needed materials and supplies.
• Assume an equal share of the joint housekeeping responsibilities of the preschool staff​.
• With other preschool staff attend and assist in the production of special and/or annual events sponsored by the preschool such as fundraising events, Christmas Program, and Graduation​.
• Under the direction of the teacher effectively utilize the services of the classroom volunteers.
• Attend preschool staff meetings and professional days.
• Be prompt and faithful in arriving at Preschool before the sess​i​on beg​i​ns and remain after school, according to the schedule set by the Director, to be sure everything is in good orde​r​.
• Be available to pursue continued education ​i​n the area of Early Childhood Educat​i​on as requi​r​ed for a

Teacher's Assistant by MSDE and Office of Chi​l​d Care and other agencies​.

The Teacher's Assistant will report directly to the teacher to whom she/he is assigned for tasks and regular and/or annual evaluations. The Teacher's Assistant will report directly to the teacher to whom she/he is assigned or the
Preschool Director for staff and personnel issues​.​ ​I have read and understand the above job description.
