The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) specializes in Medical-Surgical and Neuroscience critical care. The ICU nurse is responsible for delivering high-quality, compassionate patient care in critical situations, as well as collaborating with healthcare teams, administering treatments, and staying up-to-date on evidence-based practice.
Required:
- Graduate of an accredited associate degree program
- A Graduate Nurse (GN) must complete NCLEX within 120 days of employment.
Preferred:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing from accredited nursing program or higher degree
- Bachelor’s degree required within 8 years of being hired or those licensed after 2017.
Licensure/Certification Requirements
Required:
- Current New York State licensure as a Registered Nurse
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
Preferred:
- Certification in a specialty area
Critical Care Nursing
- ACLS required within 1 year
