The general laborer in the shredder division follows direction set by the Ferrous Manager. The essential functions may include, but not be limited to; sorting material on the picking line, prepping cars for the shredder, maintaining a clean/safe working environment, and helping customers unload.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for maintaining a safe and clean working environment.
- Ensures the quality of scrap being purchased is up to standard without any other non-metal products in it.
- Picking garbage, copper, electric motors, and various items out of the shred.
- Perform various forms of maintenance on various pieces of equipment.
- Have a solid understanding of shredder operations and flow of materials through the system.
- Keep equipment clean and safe for operation when assigned to operate.
- Ensure the equipment is getting the maintenance attention it needs by keeping a list and notifying the appropriate people of any issues when assigned to operate.
- Assist in repairs and any miscellaneous projects.
- Assist with clean up at the end of each shift.
- Help customers unload material or direct them into the appropriate location.
- Performs other duties as assigned or directed.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour
