Job Description:

The Product Owner (PO) is an individual who has 5 years of relevant experience working in the capacity of a Business Analyst, Scrum team member, or other IT related role. This individual should have spent 2 of those 5 years working directly as a Business Analyst or Product Owner. It is expected that an PO has a solid understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), and understands how to translate business wants and needs into technical specifications for development team members to understand (i.e. User Stories, Features, Acceptance Criteria, Etc.). In addition, the PO should have excellent communication and collaboration skills to effectively manage teams and stakeholders. In their personal growth, the PO should have their Product Owner certification (i.e. CSPO, PSPO).

Responsibilities:
  • Working with stakeholders to align the product vision and roadmap with the business's strategic goals.
  • Working closely with stakeholders to identify features and/or enhancements that would add the highest value to your product.
  • Managing the product backlog, ensuring items are relevant, prioritized, and ordered.
  • Managing releases to Production and communicating upcoming changes to stakeholders and users to coordinate change management activities, training, etc.
  • Collaborating with Cloud Delivery, Compliance, Support, and other related development teams to create a delivery plan and roadmap based on dependencies, etc.
  • Ensuring your team's backlog health meets the standards the team has agreed upon.
  • Collaborating between stakeholders and the development team to create well thought out Product Goals.
  • Collaborating with your development team by articulating the business's wants and needs, so that they, in turn, can create well thought out backlog items that will help them achieve those goals in an iterative solution.
  • Managing Stakeholder expectations and proactively communicating changes, tradeoffs, and updates to the roadmap.
  • Gathering feedback on completed items and using that feedback to update and maintain the product backlog and determine when items are ready to be released.
  • Determining and Analyzing metrics to measurestakeholder satisfaction and value deliveredafter a feature is released.
  • Cultivating an inclusive work environment, allowing everyone to freely speak their mind and collaborate on the work to be done.
  • Acting as the voice of your customers/users.
  • Leading your development team in a professional manner, being their advocate, protecting their time, and giving them opportunities to shine.
  • Encouraging innovation amongst your team.

Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, MIS, Information Systems or engineering fields, or equivalent experience.
  • 5 years of relevant experience working as a Business Analyst, Scrum Team Member, or other IT related role. At least 2 of the 5 years working in the role of a Business Analyst or Product Owner or equivalent role.
  • In-depth understanding of Product Development and Software Development Life Cycles.
  • Understanding how to translate business wants and needs into technical specifications (i.e. User Stories, Features, Acceptance Criteria, Etc.).
  • Experience working with backlog management, collaboration, and visualization tools (ADO, Mural, MS Teams, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of story mapping, release planning, and road mapping.
  • Experience working on a project with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities or initiatives.
  • Excellent organizational skills with a self-starter mentality and resourcefulness in solving problems to ensure teams have what they need to deliver.
  • Experience using SQL for analysis of Data Driven Software
  • Experience working with Data Scientist/Machine Learning Engineers on AI technologies a plus
  • Minimum of 1st level Product Owner certification required (i.e. CSPO, PSPO). (obtained, doesn't have to be active)
  • Product Management or Scaled Agile (SAFe) training or certification a plus.
