Job Summary
The CLE Manager provides daily direction and oversight of the firm’s Continuing Legal Education (CLE) program for all offices as well as client-facing CLE programs. The position also supports the Professional Development team and will work closely with the Learning and Professional Development Director to administer CLE credits for all eligible programs. Additionally, the Manager will work in conjunction with the Marketing and Business Development departments and attorneys throughout the firm to administer CLE credits for external client events. This role also works with the Professional Development team on project-based assignments and other firm projects. This position is fully remote.
Job Responsibilities
- Project manages and oversees the CLE function for all firm and client programs.
- Works with the appropriate CLE sponsors to ensure appropriate training materials are received and meet accreditation standards.
- Manages CLE processes and approvals for all internal and external training programs, including reviewing all program materials to ensure they meet CLE requirements in select jurisdictions.
- Manages relationship with external CLE provider, the ABA, including assuring programs are facilitated in a timely manner.
- Constantly reviews and innovates CLE procedures, including client offerings and industry best standards.
- Works with the Learning and Professional Development Director to assess and fulfill needs for internal CLE events.
- Works with various departments, including Business Development and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, to provide CLE credits to associates, partners, clients, and alumni.
- Creates and provides training to new hires regarding CLE processes and rules.
- Stays current on issues and regulation changes in CLE and informs Professional Development and the General Counsel’s office.
- Maintains firm’s accredited provider status in select jurisdictions and oversees individual attorney compliance reports.
- Liaises with outside vendors to ensure appropriate compliance measures are taken for CLE credit through on-line, on-demand formats.
- Serves as an expert on accreditation, licensing requirements, and credit status for all programs in all jurisdictions where the firm has offices.
- Maintains program records for year-end reporting and responds to requests from attorneys and firm alumni for CLE certificates.
- Manages platform and firm relationship with external providers, including PLI and the firm’s learning management and CLE tracking system, CrowellU.
- Seeks and maintains accredited provider status in key states (IL, CA, NY, and CO).
- Monitors and communicates changes to CLE rules and regulations in states of primary importance to C&M attorneys (CA, NJ, NY, VA, IL, IN, and CO).
- Manages the integration between the tools, troubleshoots, and responds to attorney questions on access and use of these tools.
- Assists with other Professional Development projects.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Suite to produce quality written communications. Knowledge of ViDesktop preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, including editing work for spelling and grammar, with high attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to improve processes, research continuing legal education programs, and implement best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize work in a dynamic and complex environment to meet deadlines and daily requirements.
- Ability to provide quality client service to both internal and external contacts regarding both routine and complex matters. Requires tact, the ability to maintain confidentiality, and patience.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others in a cooperative manner to accomplish work and participate in team efforts to complete projects and resolve problems.
- Demonstrated ability to represent the firm with professionalism and honesty, while consistently acting in an ethical manner.
Education
The position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Legal education (i.e., paralegal certificate or law degree) is preferred.
Experience
The position requires a minimum of five (5) years of directly related continuing legal education experience in a law firm environment during which knowledge, skills, and abilities relevant to this position were demonstrated. The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of CLE procedures and requirements in California, New York, Illinois, Colorado, and Virginia.

Our Firm is committed to fair and equitable compensation practice in accordance with applicable laws. The salary for this position is $97,400 - $140,900. Additional compensation may include a discretionary bonus. Other benefits include healthcare, vision, dental, retirement, and all-purpose leave. The salary for this position may vary based on location, market data, an applicant’s skills and prior experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other factors.
