SUMMARY: Responsible for inspecting, monitoring, maintaining, moving, or operating machinery and heavy equipment in accordance with regulatory requirements, company standards, and customer expectations.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Inspect and test equipment to ensure safe condition and reliability before use. Must set up, and repair rigging, hoists, pulling gear, and supporting structures using hand or power tools. Attaches loads of materials to rigging and secures them for movement. Riggers must use hand signals to communicate with other workers when moving and hoisting large loads. Thoroughly clean, dismantle, reassemble, and dress the machines. Properly hook up and secure dredge anchors. Continuously monitors wire cables, mooring fixtures, blocks, and pulleys.
EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent [G.E.D.] with proof of program completion/graduation from Maritime, Dive, or technical school.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Competencies: Proactively exercise good judgment and work according to safety rules and regulations. Ability to effectively identify and communicate technical issues and information to others.
OTHER: Typical working rotation up to 8 weeks on with 4 weeks off but varies based on client and project.
JOB SCOPE: Position impacts multiple business units/segments.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Works outside in conditions of both high and low temperatures. May be exposed to odors, dust, dirt, mechanical hazards, high noise levels and potentially dangerous equipment. Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
