Description
The Mechanical Drafter is responsible for preparing drawings using AutoCAD and Solidworks software programs for sheet metal manufacturing projects.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
None.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Work with assigned project mechanical engineer to create drawing submittal packages to customer.
- Coordinate mechanical drawing layouts and notes with project engineer (both mechanical and electrical).
- Create and release structural fabrication drawings to the production floor.
- Create and release drawings of sheet metal parts to the production floor.
- Assist fabrication and production department personnel with design questions and issues with designs.
- Generate “As Built” drawings at the end of a project for customer records.
- Develop standard drawing details for engineering library
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Basic knowledge of creating structural fabrication drawings, designing sheet metal parts, and generating wall elevations and plan view drawings in 2D
- Extensive knowledge of CAD software (preferable AutoCad and SolidWorks) and other drafting tools.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)
Experience/Education:
- High school diploma required; Associates degree in Drafting preferred
- At least 1-3 years experience using AutoCAD and SolidWorks. Familiarity with SolidWorks Sheet Metal is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- Must be able to traverse the production floor as needed.
