Job purpose
Under the direction of the Vice President of Research & Development, the Regulatory Specialist will generate product labeling such as ingredient statements, allergen declaration, and nutrition facts panels. This person will work closely with Crumbl’s tech team to integrate said labeling into a fully compliant and informative product. They will also inform the legal team on regulatory food compliance law, communicate regularly with our procurement and warehouse team to advise on ingredients, and collaborate with our creative team to audit customer-facing labeling.
Duties and responsibilities
- Review and audit the current nutrition system and update to Crumbl specifications.
- Knowledge of regulatory database programs such as Genesis, ESHA, or LabelCalc.
- Strong verbal and written communications skills, with an ability to communicate regulatory and technical issues in clear, concise terms to non-technical audiences.
- Knowledge of current FDA food labeling regulations and documentation requirements, as well as staying current on updates.
Qualifications
- Education - Requires BS/BA, preferably in nutrition and/or food science
- Excellent communication skills; written and verbal
- Highly organized and self-motivated
- Demonstrated ability to create structure and prioritize work
- Comfortable working in a fast paced, results-oriented culture
- Flexible and adaptable; able to work and thrive in ambiguity
- Team player
Working conditions
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, etc. Working on the R&D team also exposes the worker to louder equipment noise levels, hotter/cooler temperatures, and occasionally standing on your feet for extended periods.
Physical requirements
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform in a general office environment as well as the potential to work in the Test Kitchen. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies up to 20 pounds and occasionally bakery equipment or ingredients up to 50 pounds.
