What are the responsibilities and job description for the STOREFRONT MANAGER position at Crust Vegan Bakery?
Location
Crust is a specialty, vegan bakery in the NW Philadelphia neighborhood of Manayunk. Our storefront location of the bakery is located on Main Street in Manayunk.

Pay rate, Healthcare, and PTO
Base pay starts at $16/hr. Tips are split equally among staff all based on the number of hours worked each week and roughly average an additional $2/hr. All employees receive immediate access to full health insurance options available. After our 3 month probationary new hire period, the employee would receive 40 hours of PTO and an additional 40 hours of sick time, as well as access to a free telehealth plan provided by Crust.
“But do I have to be vegan to work here?”
While we do not require our staff to be vegan, since we are a kosher certified kitchen and bakery, all meals brought to eat at work must follow kosher guidelines and therefore must be vegan.

Duties include:
Detailed knowledge of all products & their ingredients
Helping customers with a positive and helpful attitude when needed
Transporting of goods from the kitchen to the storefront
Occasional baking
Supervise storefront staff and ensure that all store operations run smoothly, which may include making day to day decisions within the store
Assist FOH staff with assisting customers when needed
Communicate with staff and build trusting relationships
Oversee training of new staff to ensure they are being trained in the proper methods of the bakery, review training packets and recap with training staff regarding new hires once trained
Assist in training staff to give high-quality service to all customers items while following proper food handling procedures
Supervise back of house food production and cleaning activities to highest safety and sanitation standards
Generate prep lists for the upcoming week on Sunday’s
Ability to enforce staff compliance with food safety and sanitation/safety regulations
Communicate with staff regarding work performance and expectations when duties are not being fulfilled as expected
Complete disciplinary action steps as detailed in the Crust handbook when staff are not performing duties expected of them
Conduct semi-regular check ins with staff when needed to make sure operations and systems are running smoothly
Inspect pastries made in house as well as products received via delivery to ensure that established standards on quality, uniformity, and aesthetic appeal are met and completed on time, and troubleshoot when necessary
Manage team effectively so that when management is not on site they know how to handle tasks and responsibilities effectively
Responsible for suggesting changes to inventory pars when needed
Work directly with the maintenance manager to resolve any issues with storefront equipment as efficiently as possible
Work with HR manager to ensure any staff in need of support are heard and supported
Conducting quarterly team meetings (or more often when necessary)
Examine areas which may need cost reduction and/or program improvement

Experience and qualification:
Managerial experience
Baking experience in a commercial setting is a plus
Serve safe certification
Schedule:
40 hours/week
Schedule of Wednesday - Sunday
8 to 9 hour shifts
Midday / closing shifts
Ability to fill in when staff call out as needed
Holiday and weekend availability
