What are the responsibilities and job description for the Material Handler II EXT Packaging 3rd Shift - Mosinee position at Crystal Finishing Systems?
General Summary:
Performs a variety of material handling duties including, but not limited to, moving material and loading/unloading vehicles safely and efficiently while maintaining quality standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Locates and identifies the material to be loaded on the truck using appropriate reports. Checks for discrepancies such as: wrong count, wrong part, incorrect tagging, improper packaging and quality issues. Once load is verified, create shipping label.
- Safely loads and secures material on the truck in accordance with DOT and company standards. Installs protective devices if necessary, such as bracing, padding, or strapping to prevent shifting or damage to items being transported.
- Uses critical thinking techniques to effectively and efficiently load uniquely shaped material on a trailer.
- Responsible to create load list in order to scan bundles for the load manifest. Using the load manifest, create pack slips and bill of ladings.
- Receives incoming material and verifies it is correct by counting and using reports such as a bill of lading or pack slip. Performs appropriate data entry in Epicore system.
- Attaches identifying tags to containers/bundles or marks them with identifying information.
- Safely unloads material and delivers it to a storage or contacts the department’s material handler to pick up the product.
- Reports any concerns to lead such as quality concerns, short counts, incorrect part or packaging issues.
- Ensures warehouse, packaging, and shipping/receiving areas are accessible and safe for employee and customer traffic by maintaining a clean work area at all times.
- Acts as a liaison for customer service issues. Solves those within the scope of responsibility and refers advanced concerns to the appropriate individual for follow-up.
- Establishes efficient work flow based on product and task.
- Follows safe warehousing practices when storing material.
- Safely operates industrial equipment which may include: a forklift, four-directional lift, two-directional lift, Combi lift, and/or Drexel.
- Operates small hand tools including, but not limited to a screwdriver, nail gun, load bar (for tightening straps), and/or chop saw as necessary.
- Efficiently uses supplies and notifies the correct person when supplies run low.
- Properly wears required Personal Protective Equipment.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Desired Minimum Qualifications:
- Previous experience loading and unloading semi-trailers and familiarity with safe stacking procedures and load securement normally acquired through six (6) months of experience in similar position.
- Knowledge of warehouse and packaging standards.
- Previous experience operating a forklift, four directional lift, two directional lift, Combi Lift.
- High-level problem-solving skills to visualize and implement an efficient and effective way to load trucks.
- Ability to read, count and accurately measure is required.
- Accurate data entry skills and familiarity with a computer and manufacturing software.
- Previous experience with small hand tools is beneficial.
- Ability to work in a team or independently.
