Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled GIS Analyst to join our team. As a GIS Analyst, you will be responsible for analyzing geographic data and creating visual representations using GIS software. You will work in a close-knit team with high volume and fast paced work environment that is primarily focused on land use planning, transportation planning and facilities planning.
Duties:
- Collect, compile, and analyze geographic data from various sources
- Create and maintain accurate GIS databases
- Develop maps, charts, and reports using GIS software
- Perform spatial analysis to identify patterns and trends
- Collaborate with other team members to integrate GIS data into projects
- Conduct quality control checks on GIS data to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Provide technical support and training to staff on GIS-related matters
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Geography, Geomatics, or related field
- Strong knowledge of GIS principles, concepts, and techniques
- Proficiency in using GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS)
- Experience with data visualization tools and techniques
- Familiarity with AutoCAD or other computer-aided design software desired but not required.
- Project management skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Scripting experience (Python, R) is a plus
- Familiarity with APIs and the ability to build custom applications is desirable
- Knowledge of GPS technology and land surveying methods is beneficial
