The Ideal Candidate:
Strategic sourcing managers must have excellent communication skills, including exceptional active listening and reading comprehension skills. They must be able to critically think and analyze complex information in short periods of time. Consequently, they must have great decision making and problem- solving skills. Strategic sourcing managers must develop and maintain positive professional relationships with their peers, vendors and agents. As a result, strong interpersonal skills and a service orientated attitude are needed. They must be masters of multitasking with competing priorities and numerous deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute and advises on vendor strategies utilizing a vendor matrix to support Product Development and Buying strategies.
- Negotiate favorable first costs based on targets provided by the Buying team.
- Manage deadlines as set in the Product Development Calendar with strict adherence to Critical Milestone dates.
- Work on streamlining protocols, procedures and expectations with our agents and vendor partners.
- Supervise a team of associates and help them achieve their individual savings targets.
- Mitigate Tariffs by recommending factory location changes and new suppliers.
- Ensure product quality targets meet company standards and governmental laws.
- Achieve Departmental Margin Goals.
- Act as an internal resource for Product Development, Inventory Planning, Merchandising, Operations, and sister companies for sourcing and supplier related issues
- Become an expert on the marketplace, supply sources, and competition
- Own the identification, evaluation, and choice of suppliers for assigned categories
- Assess and adjust supply base capability and capacity to minimize potential supply disruptions
- Conduct supply market analysis and collect supplier intelligence to drive sourcing process
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Excellent reading and written language skills (English) multi-cultural awareness and respect.
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred, or an equivalent of 5 years’ experience in supply chain or related field
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Advanced Excel, Sharepoint)
- Excellent math and problem-solving skills
- Familiar with Direct Sourcing terms and processes
- Must be able to work and effectively communicate with all levels of the company and suppliers
- Must be a self-starter who can work under pressure, meet deadlines, develop strategies, make recommendations and decisions, and execute independently
- Must be able to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
