SUMMARY:
The Accounting Manager is responsible for responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. The Accounting Manager supervises the accounting team and is responsible for managing the team to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner. The position assists the VP of Finance with overhead and margin measurement, budget development and profitability and forecasting models.
The Accounting Manager position reports to the VP of Finance. The Accountant, and Accounting Coordinators, report to the Accounting Manager.
This position is a full time FLSA exempt position. It requires at least 40 hours per week with the ability to work more if necessary.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Directs and supports the Accounting Department, helping set department goals, ensuring they have the staffing and resources to meet the strategic objectives of the company and supporting the Accounting employees’ individual growth.
- Directs the general ledger and budgeting functions of the organization ensuring historic performance and future projections are accurate and timely to enable the leadership team to make decisions using the most correct information available.
- Protects the assets of the organization using sound treasury management techniques and practices and developing and overseeing sound control procedures.
- Project Cost Accounting
- Responsible for project cost accounting including accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management and job cost.
- Reports to VP of Finance and Executive Team on cost accounting.
- Financial Analysis
- Manages overhead and margin measurement.
- Develops and reports on variance analysis to budget.
- Oversees and completes corporate budgeting and monthly reporting to all teams and departments.
- Department Administration
- Assists the VP of Finance in strategic planning and goal setting for the department.
- Works with all outside agencies to complete company financial audits.
- Oversees treasury management and is the main point of contact for the bank.
- Manages the Accounting staff reporting to this position.
MINIMUM REQUIRMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or similar discipline.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
- Experience in Sage 300 Accounting software or the ability to learn to navigate and use the software quickly is required.
- Two to three years’ experience in construction accounting preferred.
