Senior Accountant

CSWI, a rapidly growing industrial products and specialty chemicals manufacturer is seeking a Senior Accountant for its RectorSeal LLC business in Houston. This position requires a candidate who is willing to roll-up his/her sleeves to tackle a range of financial activities from day-to-day accounting to high-level strategic business decisions. This is a highly visible role that involves daily interaction with executives at parent and subsidiary companies, both domestic and international. This role will require acute attention to detail, sensitivity to meeting deadlines, advanced critical thinking skills, and a commitment to process improvement. The weekly work schedule requires an office presence of 3 times per week. Standard business hours (8-5) with additional hours during peak times at month-end and quarter-end. 

Compensation Package: Salary, Annual Bonus Targets, 401K with contribution matching, ESOP, Health, Vision, Dental, PTO     

Key Responsibilities:

• Heavily involved in the month end close process with the preparation of recurring/ad-hoc journal
  entries, balance sheet adjustments, allocations, and reversals
• Upload and consolidate financials, prepare supplemental reporting packages
• Support subsidiaries on accounting matters including but not limited to month end close activities, developing SOX controls, and integration into parent Company
• Reconcile and monitor high risk liability, intercompany and accrual accounts
• Manage Blackline account reconciliation application by ensuring accurate loading of monthly trial balances and ensuring all accounts are assigned monthly
• Manage wing to wing account reconciliation process, including tracking, publishing and distributing daily metrics throughout the reconciliation periods
• Collaborate with internal and external auditors, and work with stakeholders to ensure timely fulfillment of auditors’ data requests
• Conduct variance analysis/commentary on financial statements and financial presentations
• Support analysis of cost accounting data and assist with cycle count/physical inventories
• Ensure compliance with internal control policies in a SOX environment
•  Other assignments/responsibilities as requested by management

Preferred Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or Business from a top tier university
• CPA and/or master’s degree  
• Experience with JD Edwards 
• Consolidation and Onstream experience 

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or Business 
• 5 plus years relevant accounting experience, preferably in the manufacturing sector
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills is required
• Have demonstrated business acumen with proven ability to identify trends, opportunities and make recommendations for improvement
• Strong analytical skills including an inquisitive approach in tackling projects
• Strong ability to prioritize multiple tasks
• Must be able to interact with all departments and all levels of the organization
