Job Summary
Assists oversight of maintenance for CSX Transportation Curtis Bay Coal Pier (CBCP) while ensuring timely and safe completion of assigned projects within delegated budget. Supervise contract employees, and outside contractors for safety, quality, and cost effectiveness. Provide field technical assistance and have the ability to troubleshoot, maintain, repair and replace electrical and mechanical components of conveyer systems in an aggregate handling facility. Implement cost reduction plans in all aspects of manpower, materials, tools, equipment, utilities, and vehicles. Supports use of Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) to manage service requests and work orders within the assigned territory
Primary Activities and Responsibilities
- Supervise and manage the team to inspect, install, and maintain over $200M in material handling conveyors, reclaim hoppers and ship loading assets. Including but not limited to: belts, hoppers, dumpers, tunnels, towers, docks, concrete, exterior and interior lighting, doors/ hardware, interior finishes, exterior finishes, roofing systems, windows/ frames, interior stairs/railings, electrical service, HVAC systems, and plumbing systems.
- Supervise and manage the team to inspect, install, and maintain over $200M in Electrical assets including but not limited to: high and low voltage infrastructure: overhead and underground wiring and equipment such as: control Systems: Motors & generators: switch boards & Meters: battery charging systems: emergency power generators and UPS systems: yard Lighting: and moveable bridge controls and electrical systems.
- Supervise and manage the team to inspect, install, and maintain over $200M in Mechanical assets including but not limited to: Troubleshooting, repair and replace conveyor components from electrical to mechanical to structural. Troubleshoot electrical/ mechanical problems on moveable bridges (aka drawbridges), compressed air systems, conveyor systems, counterweight systems, lubrication systems, watering systems, jacking systems, manual and CNC machine tools, and mobile assets (Dozers, loaders, excavators, UTV's, cranes, forklifts, trailers).
- Assist in the preparation and execution of both Capital and Operating Budgets and work with FM management team to reduce overall expenses. Interface with multiple departments regarding compliance, emergency plans, construction plans, maintenance, Division safety meetings, etc.
- Ensure compliance with all railroad rules and regulations for safety, operations, and the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA, OSHA, MSHA)
- Assist in the design of repairs to all assets within area of responsibility
- Interpret and follow regulatory codes, manuals, schematic diagrams, blueprints and other specifications.
- Administrator of Maximo system for Enterprise Asset Management work assignments, ProCard reallocations, AP-1s, and invoices for all CBCP facility expenditures.
- Responsible for the maintenance and safe operation of all facilities vehicles and equipment. Miscellaneous activities and responsibilities as assigned by manager.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associates Degree/2-year Degree
- 3 or more years of experience in aggregate handling, construction, maintenance, electrical or mechanical engineering, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, or facilities maintenance
Equivalent Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED
- 5 or more years of experience in aggregate handling, construction, maintenance, electrical or mechanical engineering, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, or facilities maintenance
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree/4-year Degree
- 7 or more years of experience in aggregate handling, construction, maintenance, electrical or mechanical engineering, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, or facilities maintenance
- 7 or more years of supervisory experience in aggregate handling, construction, maintenance, electrical or mechanical engineering, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, or facilities maintenance
Knowledge and Skills
- Effective communication skills verbal and written.
- Strong electrical and mechanical skills.
- Ability to manage multi-projects proficiently.
- People leadership skills and strong knowledge of Labor Agreements.
- Knowledge of all applicable Building, Plumbing, Mechanical, and Electrical Codes.
- Ability to work independently without supervision.
- Knowledge of applicable FRA and OSHA rules
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel including pivot tables, Access and Power Point.
- Knowledge of ADA rules and codes.
- Knowledge of Road Way Worker Rules.

Job Requirements
- Available to report to work with two-hour advance notice
- Work in confined spaces at times
- Different shifts as assigned in a 24 hour/7 days a week operation (incl working weekends)
- Hours which include rotating on-call responsibilities which may be outside standard hours
- Wear protective equipment (such as welding shields, hard hat, hearing protection)
- Work with hazardous materials on an occasional basis
- Work at elevated heights
- Work hours may vary in length and schedule (may include a non-standard work week)
- Work outside in all weather conditions
