What are the responsibilities and job description for the Direct Support Professional position at CTL?
Direct Support Professionals provide support to children and adults of all ages with developmental disabilities as they take part in everyday life – working, playing, and being involved in their community. Positions may be part-time or fulltime; day, evening, weekend or overnight shifts are available.
Job duties may include: personal care; transportation to appointments; recreational activities; job coaching; respite care (giving families time away from caregiving responsibilities); and more!
What does it take to be a Direct Support Professional? In Connecticut, anyone interested in working as a Direct Support Professional must complete College of Direct Support training, which includes mandatory training classes available online. Criminal background checks are required by DDS as part of the hiring process.
