What are the responsibilities and job description for the Chipper/Grinder position at CTR Group?
CTR Group is seeking to hire Chipper/Grinders for a shipyard located in Newport News, VA.
Per diem is offered for non-local candidates.
Experience/Qualifications Needed:
- Chipper/Grinder must have a minimum of 1 year of experience in the marine industry.
- Experience is also required to operate surface and angle Grinder for weld preparation of burned steel.
- Experience working in a physically demanding environment (positions and cramped areas, heights and exposure to the elements)
- Need to be carbon arc proficient.
- Must have the ability to prepare welded surfaces for various inspection levels such as RT, VT, MT, PT, and UT.
- Must be qualified as a fire watch.
- Must have a clean background
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $27.30 per hour
Schedule:
- 10 hour shift
- 12 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
- Overtime
Experience:
- Chipper/Grinder: 1 year (Required)
- Firewatch: 1 year (Required)
- Carbon Arc Gouging: 1 year (Preferred)
