Security Guard (Unarmed)

Security Officer/Guard will perform a variety of duties that include answering visitor inquiries about the company, directing visitors to appropriate contacts, sorting mail, answering incoming calls, and arranging appointments for guests to meet with company staff. Monitor who is entering and exiting the property and observes and reports any suspicious behavior or activity.

• Greet and sign in all guests and visitors, answering and directing phone calls and taking messages for staff at the reception desk.

• Act as a crime deterrent while maintaining a positive and professional demeanor at all times.

• Provide exceptional customer service while maintaining a safe and secure work environment.

• Notify supervisors and on-site staff of any irregularities, suspicious activities, security breaches and/or safety hazards.

• Monitor and maintain facility safety by utilizing all security systems and equipment, including the alarm system, cameras and walkie-talkies.

• Complete incident reports for any incidents occurring within or surrounding perimeters of the facility.

• Complete security shift reports documenting accidents, incidents, suspicious activities, safety and fire hazards and other security related situations.

• Assist program staff in defusing hostile situations by using Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) methods of intervention.

• Conduct security rounds after curfew when the front door of the facility is closed, locked and secured.

• Supports a welcoming and positive environment for volunteers and works with them effectively

Skills

• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

• Experience evaluating situations, making decisions and reacting quickly and calmly in emergency situations.

• Experience in documenting accident, incident, suspicious activities, safety and fire hazards and other security related reports.

• Ability to relate in a courteous, non-judgmental manner with persons from all ethnic, socioeconomic, and religious backgrounds.

• Ability to stand, walk and sit for extended periods of time if required.

• Ability to use and maneuver computer software such as adjusting the camera system and utilizing work email.

• Desire and ability to work as a team player.

• Pleasant and courteous telephone manner.

Education

• High School Diploma or equivalent.

• 1 year of security experience with skills in client crisis response preferred.

Working Conditions

• Security Officers/Security Guards observes and reports activities and incidents at an assigned client site, providing for the security and safety of client property and personnel.

• Frequent sitting, standing and walking, which may be required for long periods of time, and may involve climbing stairs and walking up inclines and on uneven terrain.

• Additional physical requirements of the security officer/guard may include, frequent lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds and occasional lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds.
