General Summary: An exempt position responsible for supporting quality improvement (QI) efforts by conducting and coordinating clinical outcomes management efforts.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Assists the QI manager in conducting a comprehensive, continuous quality improvement (CQI) program throughout the medical practice, including helping to develop annual plans and outcome goals and analyze results on an ongoing basis. Uses outcomes management computerized information systems to statistically analyze outcomes data including practice patterns.
- Helps clinical teams to gather outcomes information following regulatory and accreditation standards. Compiles data into reports for the QI manager, and QI committee, and the senior management team, including an analysis of trends and patterns. Fulfills internal and external requests for outcomes data, including developing special reports.
- Participates in presentations to educate staff on outcomes management principles and systems. Meets with clinical teams about outcomes data to discuss implications for clinical practices. Identifies areas needing improvement.
- Collaborates with clinical teams to use outcomes data in patient education and clinical practice applications including the development of new condition-specific protocols and clinical documentation procedures. Helps train clinicians on new protocols.
Education: LPN or RN
Experience: Minimum three years of nursing or other clinical experience in medical practice setting. QI experience preferred.
Other Requirements: Current LPN or RN or other clinical license as required by state. Current CPR certificate.
Performance Requirements:
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of CQI and outcomes management principles and practices.
- Knowledge of CQI software programs.
- Knowledge of medical field and physician practice management.

- Skill in effective use of quality and outcomes management tools.
- Skill in producing variety of outcomes reports.
- Skill in appropriate implementation into clinical practices.
Abilities:
- Ability to analyze outcomes data and use statistical methods to identify trends and patterns and make independent judgments.
- Ability to make presentations and train staff in appropriate use of new clinical protocols aimed at improving outcomes.
- Ability to interact effectively as member of health care team.
Equipment Operated: Standard office equipment with emphasis on computer hardware and software.
Work Environment: Office and classroom settings. Minimal contact with patients.
Mental/Physical Requirements: Primarily sitting, with some standing during classroom presentations. May need to lift/carry/move audiovisual training equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Some stress related to need for accuracy.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 - $22.00 per hour
