Primary Responsibilities:
To make guests feel welcome upon entering the restaurant by greeting and seating them in a friendly manner and assisting with the overall guest flow of the restaurant.
Specific Functions and Duties:
- Complete all opening and closing duties.
- Greets and seats the guest and accommodates any special needs, i.e., boosters, highchairs, disabilities.
- Answers the telephone in a polite and timely manner.
- Manages the wait list when the restaurant is full.
- Accepts and processes carryout /delivery orders
- Helps Bus tables and provides assistance to servers to fulfill guests needs.
- Maintains a clean and organized work area.
- Fills out Special Board.
- Checks and ensures the overall cleanliness of the restrooms routinely.
- Completes assigned daily and weekly cleaning duties.
Qualification Standards:
- Mobility required during the entire shift.
- Ability to wipe down table tops, table legs, chairs, booth seats and pick up debris off of the floor in all areas of the restaurant.
- Reading, writing and verbal communication skills required.
- Transport and carries objects up to 15 pounds frequently during shift.
- Previous restaurant hosting or serving experience preferred
- Friendly and customer-focused personality
- Ability to articulate clear greetings and farewells to guests, as well as being able to understand requests for assistance
- Ability to clearly communicate guests’ needs to Servers, Bussers, Managers, etc.
- Ability to effectively communicate on the telephone
- Must be able to carry trays or supplies (10-30 lbs.)
Responsibilities:
- Greet guests and seat them at tables or in waiting areas
- Provide guests with menus
- Assign patrons to tables suitable for their needs and according to rotation so that servers receive an appropriate number of seatings
- Inform guests of current promotions and who will be serving them to ensure a smooth handoff to the service staff
- Manage the flow of guests into the dining and bar areas, provide accurate wait times to incoming guests if appropriate
- Operate cash registers to accept payments for food and beverages
- Answer the phone.
- Take to-go orders when necessary.
- Keep the host stand neat, tidy, and presentable for guests.
