Position Overview

Examples of Duties
- Assist with the development and maintenance of the Emergency Operation (EOP), Continuity of Operations (COOP) and other emergency services related guidelines, plans, manuals, policies, and procedures to prepare for, respond to, recover from, and mitigate against natural, and man-made disasters
- Serve as liaison as assigned by Emergency Management Coordinator with city and county departments and agencies, schools, military installations, Volunteer Organizations Active in Disaster (VOADs), public assistance organizations, utility companies, weather service, telephone companies and other state and federal agencies
- When activated, serve in the County Emergency Operations Center in a position designated by the Emergency Management Program Coordinator and prepare situation reports, coordinate logistics, participate in local and State conference calls, and complete other emergency related duties as assigned
- Assist with the design, participation, and documentation of disaster exercise using the Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP)
- Assist in the coordination and collection of disaster/damage assessment data, expenditure reports for submission to the State EOC through WebEOC or the Regional Coordination Center
- Serve on emergency committees (i.e., LEPC, North Carolina Emergency Management Association (NCEMA etc.)
- Deployment and/or maintenance of emergency equipment such as stream gauges, message boards, and other motorized equipment
- Assist with mass communication and warning through a variety of mediums
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in Planning, Business or Public Administration, or an Emergency Services related field, and two (2) years of experience; or graduation from an accredited two-year college or technical school with an Associate degree with course work emphasis in Business or Public Administration, or an Emergency Services related field and four (4) years of progressively responsible experience planning and implementing emergency services response plans and activities; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Bachelor's degree and completion of the Incident Command System (ICS) and National Incident Management (NIMS) Series courses.

- North Carolina Emergency Management credential of Associate Emergency Manager or IAEM Associate Emergency Manager (AEM) within three years of employment
- Possession of North Carolina Hazardous Material Responder Level I or must obtain within one year of employment
- Obtain FAA Part 107 UAS License within two years of employment
- Possession of appropriate NIMS and IS 100, 200,700, and 800 certifications
- ICS 300 and 400 within one year of employment
- IS 120, 230, 235, 240, 241, 242, 244 within two years of employment

Necessary additional requirements:
