The Compensation Specialist works within the Human Resources in supporting activities to develop, implement, and administer compensation policies and programs. Helps develop and participates in compensation surveys to analyze company’s competitive position. Reviews proposed salary adjustments for conformance to established guidelines and recommends corrective or alternative actions to resolve compensation-related problems. Recommends company salary structure movements, salary increase budgets, and FLSA exemptions. Prepares special studies and makes recommendations on subjects such as incentive compensation, bonus plans, or stock options. Ensures company compliance with federal and state laws governing compensation.
Responsibilities
- Work with the VP, HR and the Finance Department in helping drive compensation strategies as well as helping with all tactical functions related to all compensation requirements
- Assist with all administration process schedules, identifying opportunities for improved efficiency and accuracy
- Owning compensation system access and data security in HRIS
- Manage the running of all reports as needed
- Assist in ongoing compensation administration, including handling all compensation calibration for newly acquired companies; assisting with the on-boarding of newly acquired companies on compensation plans and structure
- Identifying areas for improvement with compensation
- Design and implement of merit and bonus process
- Conduct job evaluations and internal equity analysis
- Participate in salary surveys by mapping roles and providing information
- Assist in pay equity plan administration
- Assist with bonus modeling for budgets, reforecasts, and accruals
- Assist in year-end merit process, mid-year and year-end bonus process (conduct analysis based on performance/KPIs, budget vs. spend, etc.)
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, human resources or related field or equivalent combination of training and experience
- Minimum 6 years of experience in compensation
- Experienced with multi-state employers preferred
- Exposure to high-growth, dynamic/complex companies preferred (to include M&A / acquisition integration)
- Experience with HR Information System (HRIS)
