School to Work - ePowertrain Controls
We are looking for a talented Student to join our team for our School to Work - ePowertrain Controls opening in our location in Troy, MI.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways :
The Cummins-Meritor Cooperative Education Student who is pursuing a bachelors degree of Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Control Systems Engineering.
The student works in support of the engineering department by applying knowledge from academic studies, interfacing with project engineers, test labs, production manufacturing facilities, and several internal engineering groups.
The intern works under close supervision to learn about aspects of engineering that they can apply after graduation.
Support SW development engineers on ePowertrain control software development
Perform data analysis on sensor data acquired on lab and vehicles
Make clearance studies of static and / or dynamic components
Write code in programming languages such as C / C , python, or MATLAB / Simulink.
Provide engineering analysis for new or existing components and write engineering reports as required.

Base salary rate commensurate with experience. RESPONSIBILITIES
To be successful in this role you will need the following :
Currently enrolled and working towards a 4 year degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a similar field.
Goes beyond task completion, demonstrates a proactive and analytical mindset by actively engaging in understanding the underlying principles of assigned projects and proposing insightful improvements.
Demonstrates capability and knowledge of basic mathematics and sciences.
Demonstrates written and oral communication skills, including presentation creation.
Strong teamwork and ability to interact with all levels of the organizations.
Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
Basic C / C , python or MATLAB / Simulink programming skills preferred.
Understanding of vehicular drivetrain components and their application is a plus.
Familiarity with data acquisition tools (and activities) is a plus.
Experience with Model base simulation
Experience with Vector CAN (CANoe, CANalyzer, CANope) is a plus.
Pay starting at $ or higher, based on current education level.
This is a Student Position : M-F (8 AM 5 PM Flexible). No more than 19 hours a week.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Student who is pursuing a bachelors degree of Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Control Systems Engineering.
Experience
Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
Basic C / C , python or MATLAB / Simulink programming skills preferred.
Understanding of vehicular drivetrain components and their application is a plus.
Familiarity with data acquisition tools (and activities) is a plus.
Experience with Model base simulation
