The Geotechnical Engineering team are an award-winning source of world leading expertise, bringing together their technical knowledge in the disciplines of environmental science, environmental engineering, engineering geology, foundation engineering and geotechnics.The team now looks for an enthusiastic graduate to join them and be a part of future projects – some of the award-winning projects they’ve already completed include a challenging regional sport and leisure facility, a BMX track, and Lee Valley White Water Centre.
The Role You'll Play
Offering a pro-active and collaborative approach to skill development, and professional excellence, becoming a Graduate Geotechnical Engineer at Cundall will see you work on the design of some of the most exciting construction projects in the UK and worldwide.
Working closely with colleagues across our multi-disciplinary practice (in particular, our Civil and Structural Engineering teams), you’ll provide specialist consultancy input on projects across all sectors including Education, Healthcare, Critical Systems, Industrial, Residential and Retail.
As a Geotechnical Engineer, you’ll carry out detailed geotechnical calculations and analysis, prepare site investigations and risk assessments, and formulate geotechnical designs (shallow strips/pads, piled foundations, slope stability, retaining structures), specification and procurement.
Assuming greater levels of responsibility and autonomy as your professional skills develop, you’ll also be well supported towards Chartership.
The Skills You'll Bring
On target to achieve at least a 2:2 degree
Desirable if accredited with or on course to achieve an MEng degree level (or equivalent) in Geotechnical Engineering (or related subject)
Have a real passion for great geotechnical design and analysis for the built environment. Ideally, you’ll have already supplemented this interest with a relevant work placement/internship.
Possessing a desire for personal and professional development, you’ll have the proven ability to work effectively as part of a team
Digital engineering is a big focus at Cundall, so ideally, you’ll have an understanding of Parametric Modelling Techniques (Grasshopper or Dynamo), or at least one modern programming language (e.g. Python, C#, VB)
You are organised and methodical in your approach to managing your tasks and priorities, striving to meet deadlines
Collaborative in nature, you’ll be able to empathise with your clients’ needs and utilise excellent communication skills, both in writing and verbally, with internal and external stakeholders. You’re used to using your initiative to overcome challenges and have a positive, can-do attitude
