FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The English Department and MFA Program in Creative Writing invites applicants for a Distinguished Lecturer position to teach graduate workshops and graduate craft seminars in the Creative Nonfiction track and to serve as the faculty coordinator of the nonfiction track. We seek a writer of national/international stature, an outstanding publishing record that includes at least three books with major publishers and work placed in national periodicals, with five or more years of graduate teaching experience. A significant record of publishing fiction in addition to nonfiction, and experience coordinating a division within a writing MFA would also be assets.

Teaching duties include the graduate nonfiction workshops and craft seminars as well as thesis advising. Service duties include conducting all aspect of graduate admissions and recruitment, and participating in the selection and invitation of writers for the Distinguished Writers Series.

The department faculty promotes advanced scholarship and creative expression, seeks to have a positive impact on the diverse communities we serve, and fosters the success of our students in their academic studies and as innovative writers and artists

QUALIFICATIONS

MFA or equivalent in publication record, plus a record of achievement in the profession or field of expertise related to teaching assignments. Also required is the ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution

COMPENSATION

Salary commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience ($50,512 - $59,000)

Commensurate with qualifications and experience. CUNY offers a comprehensive benefits package to employees and eligible dependents based on job title and classification. Employees are also offered pension and Tax-Deferred Savings Plans. Part-time employees must meet a weekly or semester work hour criteria to be eligible for health benefits. Health benefits are also extended to retirees who meet the eligibility criteria.
