Job Description
Summary
The IPM (Integrated Pest Management) Technician works in conjunction with the Cultivation Manager and the Cultivation Supervisor to oversee and implement all IPM activities across the entire grow. Note that Techs can be assigned to work any Cultivator task in any Cultivation Department room or area at any time based on the needs of the business (tasks include but are not limited to pruning, transplanting/moving plants, harvesting, cloning, cleaning, Irrigation tasks, etc.) The IPM Tech is expected to display and maintain proficiency in all basic level Cultivation tasks and responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Scouting and proper identification for pests and disease in all cultivation areas
- Release and distribution of Biological Control Agents (BCA’s) for prevention as well as eradication of pests
- Spraying pesticides
- Apply foliar feeds and other preventative sprays
- Monitoring control measures used and efficiency of products
- Implement and maintain detailed record keeping of pests, disease, and the controls used in compliance with Curaleaf MA, and Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission approved pesticides list
- Provide accurate IPM product forecasts by coordinating with the Beneficial Insect vendor(s)
- Identification of pest and disease infestation trends
- Compiling IPM and conventional reports for management review
- Staying current on practices and all local, state, and federal codes and regulations related to IPM in agriculture
- Follows standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Implement good agricultural practices (GAPs) and follow all GMPs and Facility Rules
- Keep good records of all practices implemented and data collected as pertaining to Lead responsibilities
- Maintain and ensure IPM equipment is in good working order
- Operating and maintaining cultivation systems/equipment
- Comply with company and product label safety procedures
- Monitoring of environmental conditions including, but not limited to, temperature, humidity, CO2 levels, VPD, W/M2.
- Stocking of cultivation supplies as needed
- Cleaning, sanitation, and setup of all grow areas
- Calibration and cleaning of pH and EC meters
- Maintain and ensure proper storage and sanitation of all tools and equipment, including but not limited to shop vacs, pumps, hoses, carts, scissors, stools, totes, gloves, rags, and PPE gear
- Carry out trials to evaluate possible improvements to the crop
- Perform regular audits as required
- When IPM tasks are complete, or if cultivation tasks take precedence, responsibilities transition to assisting cultivation with their duties, (including automated and hand watering, cloning, propagation, transplanting, pruning, topping, defoliating, trellising, and harvesting), as directed by the Cultivation Manager and Cultivation Supervisor

Physical Requirements
- Focus on a physical task for a long period of time without losing edge
- Manual dexterity; enough to reach/handle items, work with fingers
- Standing for extended periods is common
- Hearing and vision within normal ranges is essential for normal conversations, to receive ordinary information and to prepare or inspect documents
- Allergen warnings - Potential exposure to dust, pollen, and plant pathogens.
- Exposure to cleaning solvents, such as high volumes of isopropyl alcohol.
- Daily use of provided PPE
- Comfortable working in confined spaces at times
- Exposure to loud noises, including but not limited to air compressors, packaging equipment, and alarms.
- Exposure to CO2 manufacturing procedures at OSHA approved CO2 levels
- Must be able to pass a respirator fit test
