Overview of what you will do:

This position oversees classroom curriculum and classroom management and ensures the implementation of developmentally appropriate practices in the classroom environment.

  • Oversees implementation and modification of classroom curriculum on a weekly basis.
  • Creates preschool classroom schedules for individual classrooms, library, recess, lunch, and special events, and modifies as needed.
  • Creates and distributes monthly classroom calendar to all preschool classrooms.
  • Aids in weekly communication to therapists concerning upcoming classroom curriculum and special events activities in conjunction with the Administration team.
  • Oversees the evaluation and development of Individual Treatment Plans (ITP) as needed and monitors each ITP for progress/goal completion.
  • Leading ITP meetings with each child’s parent/guardian and acquiring acknowledgement from all service providers involved in the child’s plan of care.
  • Oversees the provision of Habilitative Services in the classroom.
  • Supervises the direct care provided to EIDT recipients.
  • Lead monitor of Recess Zones for safety and Indoor Recess Quality.
  • Ensures all classroom documentation is completed in an accurate and timely manner, including billing sheets, assessments, treatment plans, etc.
  • Ensures completion of Handwriting Without Tears and Kindergarten Readiness assessments twice per year as outlined in the academic calendar to be presented to parents at the annual Parent Teacher Conference.
  • Assists in classrooms as required by center needs.
  • Monitors classrooms for Arkansas Child-Care Licensing violations. Addresses any noted issues with classroom and notifies the Assistant Director.
  • Refers non-curriculum related classroom issues to the Assistant Director.
  • Oversees curriculum supply list and ensures acquisition of supplies.
  • Maintains and submits receipts and budget to Assistant Director each month.
  • Leads weekly toddler and Pre-K curriculum meetings during the weekly lead teacher meeting.
  • Reports curriculum meeting agenda and findings at quarterly curriculum meeting.
  • Leads a classroom team meeting with each classroom team at least once a month and reports agenda and findings to administrative team.
  • Shared responsibility for completion of monthly lead teacher One-on-One meetings with Assistant Director.
  • Actively attends and contributes to all required administrative meetings.
  • Assists with multidisciplinary conferences and parent conferences as needed.
  • Observes classroom activities in each classroom on a regular basis. Observed activities to include:
  • Circle Time, Center Time, Arrivals, Departures, Transition Activities, Academic Activities, Recess Time, Nap
  • Completes an observation sheet for each classroom observation. Reports a summary of pertinent findings from observations during the weekly One-on-One with the Director.
  • Provides feedback and follow-up to each classroom and/or individual teacher during the monthly classroom team or individual meeting as needed.
  • Models appropriate teaching/engagement/interaction as needed following the classroom team meeting.
  • Oversees the Kindergarten transition process, including coordinating and attending transition conferences and referral meetings for children graduating to kindergarten.
  • Oversees required Kindergarten transition paperwork as compiled and completed by the After-Care Supervisor.
  • Assists Director and Assistant Director with creation and/or implementation of corrective action plans as needed.
  • Assists in the hiring process and new hire orientation for classroom staff, including the follow-up process for new hires with classroom observations.
  • Assists in the 30-60-90 Day Review Process of teachers.
  • May perform other related and non-related duties, as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree, plus one of the following: Current Arkansas state certification in Early Childhood or Early Childhood Special Education; A current Child Development Associate Certificate; A current Birth to Pre-K credential; or Documented experience working with children with special needs and twelve (12) hours of completed college courses in any of the following areas: Early Childhood; Child Development; Special Education/Elementary Education; or Child and Family Studies.
  • 2 years of successful experience in a classroom setting working with developmentally at-risk children or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with a wide variety of people.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Basic computer skills which includes a working knowledge of database, word processing, spreadsheet, and Internet software.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a very busy environment.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand and stoop, twist, bend, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The employee is required to maintain regular and punctual attendance. The employee is required to complete tasks in a timely manner.
