JOB TITLE: Tooling Specialist – Tube Mill
Reports to: Tube Mill Production Manager / Mill Supervisor
I. JOB PURPOSE AND SUMMARY
The Tooling Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in assembling and setting up roll trains and production tooling for our pipe and tube manufacturing processes. Reporting directly to the Mill Supervisor, you'll ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of our operations.
II. SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
· Takes direction from and Reviews Mill schedule with Mill Supervisor
· Inspect tooling for damage or wear and report findings.
· Set up proper rolls and production tooling based on rolling schedules or instructions.
· Perform maintenance tasks such as greasing/lubricating roll trains and washing rolls and related components.
· Review and disposition suspect and nonconforming material.
· Replace damaged inductors, impeders, or bearings as necessary.
· Maintain accurate records of root diameter information on roll trains.
· Conduct daily lift truck inspections and report any issues.
· Keep the work area clean and free from hazards.
· Assist with other duties as assigned.
· Interpret and communicate specification information to the mill personnel.
· Utilize measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers for dimensional analysis.
· Ensure samples are cut for product certification.
· Work safely following Haz Com & workplace safety practices as outlined by Custom Steel Supply policy & OSHA.
· Perform parameter checks on product to determine any needed adjustments.
· Alerts Mill Operator of any difficulties with machinery
· Report any irregularities or malfunctions to managers or maintenance.
· Maintain a clean and safe work area and equipment.
· Follow verbal and/or written instructions and comply with safety protocols and PPE requirements.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
III. QUALIFICATIONS
· Experience in tube mill manufacturing is advantageous.
· Ability to follow written/verbal instructions, basic computer skills, and proficiency in reading measuring devices/equipment and basic math
· Strong commitment to continuous improvement in uptime, product quality, and overall mill performance.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Visual acuity for reading and recording numerical data.
· Attention to detail, dependability, professionalism, and a strong work ethic.
· Physical capability to perform tasks including standing, walking, using hands, handling objects, reaching, lifting, climbing, bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling.
· Proficiency in computer usage and Microsoft Office tools.
· High School diploma with some post-HS education or equivalent job experience required.
· Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
· Effective listening, communication, and interpersonal skills.
· Solid understanding of safety regulations and best practices in a manufacturing environment.
IV. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
· Ability to lift, climb, bend, stoop, push, and pull; capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.
· Must be able to stand and walk for up to 8-10 hours per day.
· Must be able to walk or stand for extended periods to cover shifts.
· Flexibility to bend, twist, stoop, sit, kneel, crawl, push, and pull, with the capability to reach in all directions.
· Other physical requirements as needed for the job.
V. EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
· High School diploma with some post-HS education or equivalent job experience required.
· College/technical degree or equivalent experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
· 2 years of experience in a manufacturing facility.

Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $19.00 - $23.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
