Job Description:
Summary
Assists the Program Manager, faculty, students and other professional staff in the organization and operation of the Assessment and Testing Center and/or Tutoring.
Essential Functions
- Oversees the assessment and academic course testing process.
- Ensures high-quality customer service is provided to all prospective students and visitors whether in person, by phone or email
- Ensures accurate administration of English, Math and ESL placement tests to determine proper course placement
- Maintains correct testing procedures and record keeping for Ability to Benefit, classroom and distance learning testing
- Ensures confidentiality and testing integrity and oversees other requested testing as required
- Maintains the security of test storage and distribution
- Explains and issues Course Placement Authorizations to students and refers them to Counseling as appropriate
- Provides routine information and directs callers and visitors to appropriate personnel and department
- Ensures proper staffing during hours of operation
- Provides orientation and training for new assessment technicians
- Meets with team on a regular basis to keep them updated on new policies and procedures
- Manages shift changes to ensure seamless operations and high-quality customer service
- Oversees the tracking of departmental activity through various forms of data collection
- Maintains spreadsheets, files, records, staff schedules, the departmental calendar, forms, and reports records for assessment and testing, including Ability to Benefit
- Supervises and assists in the control, care and inventory of departmental property, supplies and office equipment; requests repairs as needed
- Assists Program Manager in monitoring and projecting assessment costs
- Supervises staff which includes scheduling, assigning, directing work, providing training, and completing performance evaluations
- Performs other duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING
- Associate’s degree in a related field
- Significant related experience may substitute for education
- Minimum of three years of equivalent full-time customer service experience
- Demonstrated experience supervising the work of others
- Demonstrated experience with skills assessment testing and interpretation of test results
- Demonstrated experience monitoring a business area’s budget
- Demonstrated experience making sound decisions that affect a work unit or team
- Demonstrated experience in a role requiring diverse problem solving methods in a variety of situations
- Possess working knowledge of Assessment and Testing concepts, practices, and procedures with the ability to use in varied situations as it pertains to the departmental focus
- Ability to work evening and/or weekend hours as needed to ensure Testing and/or Tutoring coverage during all hours of operations
- Ability to effectively complete work assignments independently
- Possess excellent organizational and prioritization skills with demonstrated attention to detail

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
- Demonstrated experience at a community college with basic skills assessment and interpretation of such test results
- Demonstrated supervisory experience

- The work area is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated;
- The employee may sit comfortably to perform the duties of the job and may perform repetitive motions with hands/fingers using a computer mouse and keyboard to type. However, there will be walking; standing; bending; stooping; climbing stairs and ladders; and carrying of various items and equipment;
- Work may also require walking and standing in conjunction with travel to and attendance at meetings and conferences away from the worksite
