Position Summary
As a Middleware Architect within our organization, you'll be at the forefront of web and application technology innovation. You'll be responsible for envisioning the future of our middleware infrastructure, leading proof-of-concepts (PoCs) and proof-of-technologies (PoTs), and crafting strategic roadmaps that align with our business goals. This role offers an exciting opportunity to drive change and make a lasting impact.
Key Responsibilities:
- Keep a pulse on emerging middleware technologies and trends. Evaluate their feasibility and potential benefits for our organization.
- Develop and maintain a forward-looking middleware roadmap that outlines the strategic direction of our middleware infrastructure. Identify key milestones, technologies, and best practices to achieve our goals.
- Lead the planning and execution of proof-of-concepts and proof-of-technologies for new middleware technologies and architectures. Evaluate their viability and impact on our middleware management landscape.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design innovative, scalable, and efficient middleware solutions that address current and future business needs.
- Partner with stakeholders across various departments to understand their middleware requirements and ensure alignment with the middleware strategy.
- Ensure that middleware architectures and solutions adhere to industry best practices and compliance standards, particularly in middleware security and privacy.
- Create and maintain detailed documentation of middleware architectures, roadmaps, PoCs, and PoTs. Share knowledge and mentor team members.
Required Qualifications
- 5 years in proven experience as a Senior Middleware Administrator / Architect or in a similar role with a focus on technology innovation and strategic planning.
- 3 years deep expertise in middleware systems, including IIS, Apache, NGINX, Tomcat, JBoss
- 2 years familiarity with cloud-based middleware technologies and platforms (Azure, Google Cloud and AWS)
- 2 years familiarity with container technologies

- Strong understanding of data security, compliance, and encryption.
- Strategic thinking and the ability to drive innovation within the organization.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative mindset.
- Understanding of DevOps practices and experiences with CI/CD pipelines
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex middleware issues
- Attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality middleware solutions
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams
- Experience with middleware automation frameworks and tools like Ansible, Puppet, Chef or Terraform
- Proficiency in scripting languages like Python, PowerShell, or Bash for automation tasks
Education
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field
Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:
$94,500.00 - $196,000.00This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
