The role of Project Accountant is responsible for accounting, budgeting, forecasting, interface and reporting for a portfolio of 8 – 12 multi-family properties. Essential Functions and Responsibilities: (as follows but are not limited to and may not be all-inclusive) Post journal entries to the general ledger Review financial statements to determine any necessary adjusting journal entries Reconcile bank accounts and balance sheet accounts Prepare cash forecast Employ both logic and superior writing skills to explain variances in monthly financial statements Employ professionalism in interfacing with teammates, operational personnel, executives, vendors and other personnel Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Intermediate Excel Skills (or above) Understanding of the flow of financial statements, including balance sheet and income statement Understanding of accrual accounting (versus cash basis accounting or tax basis accounting) Understanding of Retained Earnings /Equity Accounts Understanding of the flow and workings of the Statement of Cash Flows Understanding of the concepts and practices of depreciation and amortization Superior verbal and written communication skills 10-key by touch Minimum Qualifications: College Degree Required, Accounting Degree Preferred 5 Years of progressive experience in accounting (either public or private); real estate or related field preferred but not required This job description is not an all-inclusive list of duties and responsibilities.
