What are the responsibilities and job description for the Health, Safety and Security Coordinator position at Cyanco International LLC?
Overview
The HSS Coordinator will plan and direct health and safety activities under direction of the HSS Site Manager. She/he will support the company’s initiatives to encourage participation in and compliance with HSS processes and procedure working environment. She/he will also assist with compliance / assurance processes related to company, federal, state, and local laws, regulations and policies.
Essential Duties
- Assist with daily administration of the site’s critical HSS programs, including Hot Work, Confined Space, and all other permits, HRP, Lock Out / Tag Out, etc
- Aid with the implementation of HSS standards, procedures, and programs; ensure that developed standards, procedures and programs conform to corporate standards and government and industry regulations.
- Conduct various HSS inspections, assist with Pervidi (Software), contractor training and maintaining records.
- Assist with the design of training curricula for the Emergency Response team; coordinate training sessions as required and act as a functional member of the team.
- Assist with the periodic review of HSS training for employees and contractors and provided recommendations for improvement.
- Assist with the development and tracking of key HSS performance metrics as part of the company’s continuous improvement program.
- Provide support to the Environmental Engineer and PSM Manager as needed, including program implementation and program evaluation.
- Maintain various HSS equipment and assist with safety equipment evaluations.
- Gather data related to incident investigations and assist investigations as directed.
- Conduct site inspections and program reviews to evaluate program effectiveness.
- Audit contractor work and safety practices.
- Attend LEPC meetings as needed and serve a liaison to emergency response authorities.
- Participate in HSS audits conducted by outside parties.
- Facility inspections and interaction
Non-Essential Duties: Performs all other duties as assigned by Site HSS manager.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Thorough knowledge of relevant HSS processes, procedures, and regulations
- Thorough knowledge of company HSS software systems, such as the Incident Reporting System
- Leads by example, always encouraging fellow employees to evaluate work hazards before undertaking any task
- Knowledge of new technologies to drive daily efficiency in HSS activities
- Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrate interpersonal, coaching and leadership skills
- Demonstrate proficiency with MS Office 365 (Word, excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Able to work within and support Cyanco’s Core Values
Minimum Education and Certification
- High school diploma (or equivalent) required
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Occupational Safety Specialist (COSS) preferred
- HAZWOPER Technician (29 CFR 1910.120 q), preferred
- Hazardous Waste Management (40 CFR 265-16), preferred
- DOT Hazardous Materials (49 CFR 172 Subpart H), preferred
