Cybel is a fast-growing, high-technology company in the photonics industry, and has an immediate opening for a Mechanical Engineer at the facility located in Bethlehem, Pa.
Cybel designs and manufactures photonic products for the industrial, medical, research, and defense markets, and offers a large range of CW and pulsed fiber amplifiers and laser solutions ranging from the visible to NIR. Cybel is looking for a Mechanical Engineer with knowledge of SOLIDWORKS to join our R&D Team. Candidates with experience in writing technical reports, MATLAB, and FEA are preferred.
Primary responsibilities include:
1. Responsible for 3D modeling of mechanical components and assemblies using Solidworks,
2. Assist project engineer with thermal designing compatible with the Electro-optic devices,
3. Evaluate engineering data and test results to determine if the design meets functional and performance specifications,
4. Evaluate field installations and recommend design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions,
5. Collaborate with optical and electrical engineers to design laser enclosures and optical systems for laser testing,
6. Assist in the integration of mechanical, electronic, and optical subsystems,
7. Assist project managers with planning, initiating, and executing various projects, and
8. Document the work done for scientific papers and for forthcoming patent filings.
Additionally, the Individual will be required to document all the tasks that he/she has performed and submit a status report to the supervisor on a weekly basis: Both review and feedback will be provided to the candidate together with the necessary training as needed.
Education and experience required
1. Bachelor’s degree or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
2. Proof of achievement in design, assembly, and documentation of mechanical designs.
- 3. At least 3 years experience at the design level of Solidworks and Matlab: familiarity with thermal analysis software (e.g. ANSYS), a plus
