What You Will Be Doing
As the Construction Claims Specialist you will manage collaborate with the project counsel, review all new contracts and change orders for projects in order to assess risk, ensure proper drafting, provide contracting and claims support on any issues confronting the project, focusing on owner and subcontractor disputes, change management, and insurance claims, advise project leadership.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES / TASKS:
"Interpret contract language to understand the risks, rights and responsibilities of the project teams and guide project teams in properly managing in accordance with these clauses to limit Companys exposure to additional costs.
"Work in tandem with existing project managers to understand delays and be responsible writing and submitting notifications and claims.
"Oversee project change and claim reporting and provide reporting to Chief Operating Officer
"Oversee and provide support for change and claim preparation for the projects
"Support integration of Company systems to track, monitor and control costs or schedule and claim resolution
"Perform additional assignments per managements direction.
"Ensure accurate training and utilization of approved systems for project document control and reporting.
"Reviews /under billing to determine possible measures for resolution.
" Work incoordination with Project Controls staff for identifying, monitoring and resolving claims and change issues.

What You Need for this Position
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
"7 years of experience in construction engineering, project estimating, project management or project controls required.
"Experience submitting preliminary notices for projects, 48-hour warning letters to a stop notice, and submitting stop notices to owners of a project.
"Experience writing delay or impact claims in the commercial construction industry either from a general contractor or subcontractor perspective.
"Experience as construction project manager during career progression
SKILLS AND SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE :
"Knowledge of Lump-Sum Contracts, Cost-Plus-Fixed- Fee Contracts (CPFF), Guaranteed Maximum Price Contracts, Unit-Price Contracts. and Time & Materials Contracts. (T&M). required.
"Knowledge of different types of construction claims: delay claim, impact claim, acceleration claim, disruption/ inefficiency claim.
"Experience with calculating claim costs: contemporaneously track costs method, modified total cost method, and total cost method.
"Proven leadership and influential skills. Able to effectively work and communicate with all levels of the company.
"Delegation and communication skills required. Able to develop or refine a company-wide program and clearly communicate expectations and business value to all levels of the business.
