The Principal Scientist for Cytiva is responsible for the research & development efforts in designing and developing membranes for Life Science Applications.
This position is part of the Filtration R&D located in central Massachusetts and will be on-site. Secondary location in Pensacola, FL. At Cytiva, our vision is, to advance future therapeutics from discovery to delivery.

The Principal Scientist for Cytiva is responsible for the research & development efforts in designing and developing membranes for Life Science Applications.

What you will do:
- Research & Design of new generation hollow fiber and flat sheet membranes.
- Characterization of hollow fiber and flat sheet membranes.
- Development of test methods to characterize Cytiva membranes.
- Evaluation, recommendation, and implementation of well-reasoned solutions to technical problems.
- Provide technical leadership and constructive feedback to associates assigned to the project team and when applicable, coach other associates to promote technical and professional growth.
- Ph.D. or MS in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Polymer Science with academic or industry experience in polymeric materials, polymer processing and surface modification.
- 7 years industry experience (MS 10 years industry experience).
- Record of scientific publications and achievements in polymer chemistry, material science, membrane science, membrane process design, and data analysis skills.
- Expertise in characterization of membranes with respect to separation characteristics, pore size, both in direct and/or tangential flow applications.
- Excellent interpersonal, documentation and communication skills.
- Mastery in the science of polymeric membranes including hands-on experience.
- Track record in achieving membrane structure design through formulation and process development.
- Knowledge of structure vs function in general for membrane design and application, especially in biological separations.
- Understanding of basic statistics, data analysis including DoE.
