Licensed Optician / Optician Apprentice

Job description:

We are a busy Optical shop within a busy tri-ophthalmic eyecare medical practice. We have 6 locations; this position is in our main Lancaster location but candidates will be required to work to help cover other locations. Our locations are in Lancaster, Leominster, Gardner, Athol and Acton. The Opticians in our Optical shop are like family, they work together professionally to get everything completed while having fun working as a team.

Responsibilities:
- Assist customers in selecting and fitting eyeglasses and contact lenses based on their prescription and personal preferences
- Take accurate measurements of customers' eyes and facial features to ensure proper fit of eyewear
- Educate customers on lens options, coatings, and frame styles that best suit their needs
- Adjust and repair eyewear as necessary to ensure optimal comfort and functionality
- Maintain accurate and organized orders and medical records for each customer
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, new products, and advancements in optical technology

Qualifications:

- Current MA License for Opticianry (RDO)
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Proven experience as an optician or in a similar role
- Strong knowledge of optical systems, lens materials, and frame styles
- Familiarity with aseptic technique for handling eyewear and contact lenses
- Proficiency in using electronic medical record (EMR) systems, such as Compulink
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to build rapport and establish trust with customers
- Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately measure and fit eyewear
- Basic understanding of retail math for pricing and billing purposes
- Sales skills
