Carpentry Foreman

The carpentry foreman performs tasks involving physical labor at construction sites. The position may operate a variety of hand and power tools and motorized equipment. The position may clean and prepare sites, load and unload materials, dig trenches, clean up rubble and debris, setup and monitor pumps and remove waste materials. He or she may assist carpenters, masons or other skilled craft workers.

Frequently performs a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor and repetitive use of hands/arms on construction projects. Maintains a clean jobsite, picks up all tools and equipment, and secures job site each day to eliminate potential hazards. Performs material handling/storage and proper tool/equipment use. Load and unload trucks and hauls material to jobsites which requires the ability to demonstrate full range of motion for reaching, bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, pushing, pulling, reaching overhead and balancing materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Frequently performs demo and/or building structures, rough framing and form building using tools and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Operates fork truck and other industrial equipment. Must be skilled in reading a tape and level, understand blueprints and layout. Must become familiar with OSHA Lock out/Tag out program, Confined Space program and other safety rules and requirements. Must at all times comply with company safety policies and personal protective equipment requirements. Occasionally ascends/descends a ladder and carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds to perform work above ground. Must be able to detect, distinguish, determine chemical hazards in work environment, and identify hazards and take corrective actions. Possess effective verbal and written communication skills to direct others and report progress of projects. Understand and enforce contractor (WestRock mill) rules. Must have own tools, be able to pass drug screening, possess current driver license. Reside within 50 mile radius of Covington, VA and be available for on-call duties.
