What are the responsibilities and job description for the 1st Shift Journeyman Toolmaker position at D & H Industries Inc?
Description
We are a progressive deep draw metal stamping company that serves a variety of industry. We are looking to add a toolmakers to our team. We offer a paid lunch break, medical, dental vision, life insurance and disability benefits, 401(k), PTO, 9 paid holidays and tuition reimbursement.
1. Verifies dimensions, alignments, and clearances of finished parts for conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers, and dial indicators.
2. Studies blueprints, sketches, models, or specifications to plan sequences of operations for fabricating tools, dies, or assemblies.
3. Sets up and operates conventional or computer numerically controlled (CNC) machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders to cut, bore, grind, or otherwise shape parts to prescribed dimensions and finishes.
4. Visualizes and computes dimensions, sizes, shapes, and tolerances of assemblies, based on specifications.
5. Inspects finished dies for smoothness, contour conformity, and defects. Conducts test runs with completed tools or dies to ensure that parts meet specifications, making adjustments as necessary.
6. Fits, adjusts and assembles parts to make, repair, or modify dies, jigs, gauges, and tools, using machine tools and hand tools.
7. Select metals to be used from a range of metals and alloys, based on properties such as hardness and heat tolerance.
8. Designs jigs, fixtures, and templates for use as work aides in the fabrication of parts/products
9. Develops and designs new tools and dies using computer aided software (CAD)
10. Maintains general housekeeping while performing tasks and after tasks have been completed throughout the facility. Cleans and maintains shop area and properly stores tools.
11. Adheres to all safety standards and regulations, which includes regular machine maintenance and keeping a clean work area and wearing personal protective equipment.
12. Performs other duties as requested.
Requirements
Education and Experience
- Requires certificate of apprenticeship training program completion (State of Wisconsin Journeyman card) or equivalent education and experience
- At least 3 year of tool and die making or related experience.
Skills and Competencies
- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
- Strong math skills.
- Ability to read blueprints.

Salary : $48,700 - $61,700
