JOB TITLE: Assistant Coach- Women's Soccer
SUPERVISOR: Head Soccer Coach
DIVISION: ATHLETICS
LOCATION: Amherst, NY
JOB SUMMARY
Under general supervision the Assistant Women's Soccer Coach assists the head coach in developing student-athletes academically and athletically for the Women's Soccer program, and contributes to the educational mission of the College by offering direction and instruction in the area of soccer athletics.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Contributes to the educational mission of the College by coordinating the instruction of student-athletes in the area of soccer training and competition;
- Recruits student-athletes for the soccer program;
- Instructs methods and strategies and coaches student-athletes in the sport
- Provides academic support for student-athletes;
- Provides motivation, counseling, and supervision for student-athletes;
- Monitors study hall, day-to-day class attendance, and maintains contact with student-athletes regarding their academic progress;
- Operates the program under the rules and regulations of the College, the NCAA, and the ECC; understanding that a coach can be suspended for a period of time without pay or terminated if found to be involved in significant or repetitive violations of NCAA regulations;
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Head Coach.
Faculty and staff are expected to maintain the confidentiality of all confidential and proprietary information (including but not limited to: student personal information, student grades, employee personal information, etc.), both during and after their employment with the College. If a faculty or staff member has a question about the confidentiality of a particular matter, he/she should consult their supervisor. Any violation of this rule shall subject the faculty /staff member to disciplinary action, up to and including immediate termination of employment.
General Description- % of Time
80% Provides teaching and instruction as well as individual team instruction for the fundamentals of soccer and developing skills. Follows and conforms to NCAA rules and regulations.
10% Provides guidance and advice to student-athletes.
10% Recruits potential student-athletes.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, written and oral communication skills.
- Knowledge of coaching and teaching techniques and the ability to effectively use them.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays when necessary.
- Ability to drive a personal or college vehicle for the purpose of college business on a regular basis.
- Ability to travel when necessary.
- Knowledge of recruiting techniques and the ability to effectively use them.
- Current certification in CPR, AED, and First Aid. Annual Blood Borne Pathogen education/training.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor degree in a related field is required with coaching experience.
- At least one year of coaching experience in soccer at the collegiate or higher competitive level of high school or two-year college.
- Valid driver's license required. License must meet insurance company rules and regulations for driving underwriting criteria.
STATUS: Position is part time, professional exempt and requires evening and weekend hours and travel.
General Physical Requirements:
Light/Medium Work: Exerting up to 25-50 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
Working Conditions:
Office & athletics facilities/outdoor settings, but some activities/ duties can occur both inside and outside the office setting.
Post-Hire Trainings:
Various trainings assigned upon hire and annually thereafter by the Office of Employee Engagement.
